My husband shook his head when I told him about this idea. I'm sure he was silently thinking "She's off her rocker again", or something along those lines.
Last weekend Greg and I spent our Sunday thrifting at 3 local places. I was on a mission for blue Mason jars with lids. Only if they had lids. Greg had his assignment and it was enough to keep him out of my hair so I could look at other things.
In one of the last aisles, I found this beautiful ashtray. Now I don't smoke, never have smoked, don't plan on smoking but I had to HAVE this ashtray. I just loved how it was square and the insert square was off-center. And the colors. LOVED the colors.
I got home and unwrapped everything we bought. I looked at the ashtray... what was I going to do with it?
I'm going to hang it on the wall!
"You're doing what?" says Greg.
"I'm going to hang it on the wall. What's wrong with that?" I say.
Then he just leaves the room for me to continue. There was a space on the dining room wall between the corner cabinet and the opening to the kitchen. Originally I had a mirror there. I moved the mirror to the other wall and hung the ashtray.
Then I remembered I had thrifted another dish that would somewhat match the color blue and it had the oval shape similar to the ashtray.
What do you say? Am I crazy for hanging an ashtray on the wall?

I love the colors of the ashtray! I would have ended up filling mine with change or paperclips and house junk! Much better idea hanging it up!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that ashtray. No wonder you HAD to have it. If I had seen it I'd have to have it too. IT looks terrific and it's a great idea. I see a lot of really cool ashtrays and they are usually way too nice to use (even if I smoked, which I don't) so this is a great way to show them off.
