Updated Knife Block

Shame on me for not taking a before picture...

I had a dull and boring wooden knife block. It was BEGGING for a makeover...

So I cleaned it, primed it white, then spray painted it a glossy black. My friends had given me some red-handled knives for Christmas since I'm in the process of painting the kitchen red. There was also a little engraved logo that was on the front of the knife block. I took some left over scrapbook paper from this project post and glued it to the front.

I'm totally stoked about the results. This little project makes me want to get back to work on painting the kitchen. You can see the floral medley wallpaper that SCREAMS to come down... well, I can hear it LOL

  1. Oh my goodness! I love the idea! So simple, and yet it's one of those things that is out and staring at us on the kitchen counter every day! I'm going to do this to my boring old knife holder and spray paint it red. Thank you for the tip!

  3. OMG - I loathe my knife block and not once in the eighteen (yes, 18!!) years I've had it have I thought to paint it. Talk about an "Oh, duh!" moment, especially considering how much I love to repurpose/repaint/recycle things. That sucker is getting painted this weekend!!
